Seattle has over 40 miles of dedicated space for you to run, bike or just stroll to your heart's content, including the Burke-Gilman and Sammamish River trails. Take a little time for sightseeing as you whiz by. The majority of the trails offer views of Lake Washington or Lake Sammamish.
Seattle is home to a strong trail running and hiking community and has an extensive inventory of trails for all experience levels. Mt. Si, Squak, Tiger and Cougar Mountain, all within a short driving distance, offer astonishing views and many mountain trails. With at least one 5K or 10K race each weekend and at least a dozen marathons and half-marathons annually, Seattle has many opportunities for runners. Seattle is also a city that is supportive of cyclists. Designated bicycle lanes are on many roads. The long-standing Cascade Bicycle Club boasts 12,000 members. Cyclists travel from all over the world to participate in annual, premier events including the Seattle to Portland Ride, Ride from Seattle to Vancouver, and Ride Around Washington. The Mountaineers Club was formed in 1906 and remains strong today with 10,500 active hiking and climbing members.
