The Arts Living Learning Community (LLC) in Oak Hall brings together students with a shared passion for creative expression, whether through visual arts, music, theater, dance, design or interdisciplinary media. Residents enjoy exclusive access to arts-focused workshops, gallery tours and studio visits.
Oak Hall is just a short walk from the School of Drama in Hutchinson Hall, the Jacob Lawrence Gallery and the Music Building.
Oak Hall has an Area Director/Community Manager and two Arts LLC Resident Advisers who are there to support residents.
The Arts LLC partners with the College of Arts and Sciences, ArtsUW and the Meany Center for the Performing Arts.
Oak Hall is located between The MILL and The 8, makerspaces where residents can create with 3-D printers, sewing and embroidery machines, a kiln, and wood and metal shop equipment.
LLC members engage with residents, Res Life staff, Arts staff and faculty, business leaders and alumni who share an interest in the arts. The community comes together to grow and create through fun and educational activities and events each quarter.
Residents toured UW School of Drama’s Costume Shop, featuring eight full-size worktables, two fitting rooms, hardwood floors, ample natural light, a fully equipped dye and crafts room, laundry facilities and a kitchen.
Resident Advisers organized a hands-on workshop at The MILL, offering residents the opportunity to personalize and decorate their own tote bags.
Residents toured the Jacob Lawrence Gallery, an inspiring exhibition space and dynamic hub for social interaction and dialogue centered on art, art history and design.
