Fitness Center West, FCW, located in Elm Hall, is a large fitness facility that also houses our campus Health and Wellness office. This facility offers cardio equipment, free weights and strength equipment. Group fitness classes are available in the two large fitness studios.

  • This facility is open to HFS residents only.
  • Registration is now open for Spring 2019 classes.

Fitness Center West class pass

There are a few ways to register for a class:

  • Quarterly unlimited class passes are available for purchase with a credit card on our website. For $80/quarter you may attend as many FCW classes as you’d like. If you plan to attend two or more classes per week, this is the best option for you!
  • Individual classes may be purchased online with a credit card for $6 per class.
  • If you’d like to pay using your Husky Card, you may register and pay at the FCW reception desk prior to the start of the class. 

Spring quarter class offerings

Barre 
Instructor: Katelyn Page

Barre is a fusion of yoga, Pilates, strength training, and ballet. A full-body, low-impact workout that uses isometric movements to target specific muscle groups. Barre will help improve your posture, strength, balance, and flexibility.

Boot Camp
Instructor: Manny Dunham

Boot camp is circuit training mixed in with HITT style training. Most of the movements performed will be a mix of metabolic training (Fast movements with shorter rest periods to raise the metabolism process) and core movements focusing on the stabilizing muscles of the body. The workouts are very intense, but geared for everyone, with modifications for every movement which caters to the advanced, average, and the beginner stage, as well.

Core and Stretch 
Instructor: Katelyn Page

Following the techniques of HIIT, Core and Stretch applies the interval training method to core exercises, following each one with a short recovery. Each class will target all areas of the core and stretch the areas that most athletes find need more flexibility.

Flexibility 
Instructor: Shannon Slevin

Flexibility is a great class for people who want to stretch out sore muscles from weight training or those who want to become more flexible. Can’t touch your toes? Close to getting your splits but not quite there yet? No problem! This class is for you! Flexibility is something everyone should work on as a part of a well-rounded fitness routine. Gain stability and strength as you increase your range of motion and mobility in this safely structured environment.

Kickboxing
Instructor: Lilian Liu

The FCW Kickboxing program is a fun and energizing class giving participants a fast-paced cardio workout that incorporates moderate impact techniques. This class provides opportunities for increasing cardio and strength stamina, in addition to learning basic kickboxing skills with heavy boxing bags combined with shadow cardio kickboxing.

Pilates
Instructor: Shannon Slevin

Pilates is a great way to develop strength and stability. Working on our core muscles, posture and toning out those muscles. A lot of exercises are isometric movements where we focus on control while conditioning our bodies.

Yoga
Instructors: Shannon Slevin, Katrina Knutson, Miloni Desai

Your instructor will lead at a flow that all can learn from, and progress from, down the line. You'll focus on alignment and she'll work to be sure you feel strong in your flow, no matter what level you are.

Zumba
Instructors: Claire Yuan, Regan Gallo

Zumba is an aerobic fitness program featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance, giving you a great full body workout without even realizing it. It is a great way to stay active while doing something that is easy to enjoy.

Reserve a Fitness Center West studio

  • At least half of your group must be HFS residential students. All patrons in your reservation must sign in through the card-swipe system.
  • You may reserve a studio up to three times per quarter.
  • You may reserve a studio for up to two hours at a time.
  • Fitness Center West classes have priority for studio usage. You may check the class schedule on each studio door.‚Äč
