North campus housing plan
The North Campus phase of the Housing Master Plan is moving into its second phase, which will bring the decade-long Housing Master Plan to a close. It will feature the construction and opening of Oak Hall, including the opening of a new grocery market and the rehabilitation of Denny Field.
Welcome to the future Oak Hall, a UW residence hall that will feature the second District Market, with the Denny Café inside that will proudly serve Starbucks® coffee, and the Denny Great Room, which will be available for students to study in as individuals or groups, for meetings, for movies, maker fairs and other UW student experiences. Oak Hall will have over 360 beds and a variety of room options, all of which include private bathrooms.
Oak Hall is scheduled to open September 2020 and will be freshmen only housing for fall quarter.
Located in future Oak Hall facing new Denny Field, the ever popular District Market is opening a second location, which will feature a self-service deli with rotating menus and the Denny Café, proudly serving Starbucks® coffee. Also, similar to the District Market in Alder Hall, the new market will have daily late night hours and will spotlight value, healthy food selections and a variety of specialty and dietary options, including customer favorite grocery options, produce and grab-n-go sandwiches and salads.
Welcome to the future Denny Field, a restoration of the historic home field of UW’s football team from 1895 until 1920. Denny Field will be slightly smaller than a modern football field and will have artificial turf, making it available for use year-round. Denny Field will be managed by UW Recreation for intramural activities, but it will be available for informal play to all UW students, and it will be open and lit in the evening.
