In Fall 2023, HFS hosted a Room Decoration Contest in collaboration with Pepsi. We loved the creativity in the submissions we received and wanted to share some tips and inspiration we learned that can help you personalize your living space.
1. Hang Up Posters
Personalize your room with posters! Easy to put up and take down, fun posters can brighten up your room and make those white walls feel more like home.
2. Add Plants
Plants (faux or real) are proven to bring joy. Add some greenery to your room, like these strings of ivy or some store-bought flowers available at the District Market.
3. Spruce Up Your Desk
An organized and joyful workspace can boost productivity. Add photos of your loved ones, like this student did, to bring happiness during those long study sessions.
4. Add Colorful Lighting
Fun lighting is an easy way to add color without the work of curating decor. Check out colorful lights and projectors to soften your space.
5. Make Your Space Work for You
Residents can rearrange their furniture according to their lifestyle (you just have to remember to return it back to the original configuration before Move-out). Try moving your bed or desk next to the window to enjoy the benefits of natural light.
6. Maximize Your Space
Maximize space in your room by lofting your bed and moving your desk underneath. Watch this video to learn how to safely loft your bed.
