Congratulations to HFS Associate Director for Facilities, Operations and Special Projects Josh Gana who has been elected to the ACUHO-I (The Association of College and University Housing Officers – International) Board of Directors. Looking forward to the two-year position (2021–2022) as Facilities & Physical Environment Director, Josh says, “There is so much opportunity to further integrate the facilities functional area within the Association and emphasize how important physical environments are to the developmental work being done in student housing.”

Josh notes he applied to become a Board member because “I view ACUHO-I and our regional affiliate, NWACUHO, as a professional home and community.” Providing service on the Executive Board builds on leadership experience he had with NWACUHO, where he served on that association’s Board for seven years, including as president.  Also, he is currently serving as deputy incident commander and board secretary for the Emergency Management Group Washington. This is a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive emergency management, planning, and operational services for special events, such as the Seahawks Super Bowl Victory Parade, in the city of Seattle.

His new responsibilities will include fostering leadership and expertise in the facilities and physical environments functional area as it relates to association programs, educational initiatives and partnerships. “As a member of the ACUHO-I Executive Board, I will participate in all governance aspects of the organization
including strategic planning and ensuring fiscal responsibility,” Josh summarized.

Josh, who has been with HFS since 2011, joins Assistant Vice President and Executive Director Pam Schreiber, currently ACUHO-I Board Vice President, who becomes Board President in 2021.
