With the University of Washington Board of Regents approval of the Oak Hall plan, construction work will soon begin on the site west of Denny Field on North Campus. Here is what is what to expect in Phase IV(b) of the Housing Master Plan:
- In keeping with the North Campus character, the design for Oak is similar to the other new residence halls. One note: There will be more brick siding to align with the existing look on nearby Lewis and Hutchinson halls.
- With 361 beds, Oak is divided into two sections, a longer rectangular section that parallels Denny Field on its south side and a square building next to Hutchinson Hall and Stevens Way.
- The two sections are connected by enclosed bridges, above the portal or walkway into the North Campus housing area from Stevens Way.
- Student rooms are the same design as the area’s other residence halls, predominately double rooms with private bath and a small percentage of design triples and quads. The building will house a District Market on the ground floor and a Great Room, similar to the one in Maple Hall on West Campus.
