Parents and Families

Student with parents on Parent and Family weekend

Our residents are important to us, and so is our partnership with their families. We are committed to helping you navigate and participate in your student’s residential Husky Experience.

Parent notification and student privacy

Once a student turns 18, or attends school beyond secondary school, the rights of access to the student’s records transfer to the student. It’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) before you apply for housing.

Make a housing and dining payment

Students have the option to authorize their parents or another third party to pay their housing bills. Housing and dining payments are separate from tuition payments. More information about making housing and dining payments for your student can be found in our Residential Financial Information pdf.

If you have decided to authorize your parents to make housing and dining payments for you, they can go to the Guest Portal login page to get started.

Family programs

The UW hosts parent and family programs that HFS participates in. Consider attending UW Parent and Family Weekend. Spend quality time together on campus and discover what the Husky Experience is all about. We are dedicated to supporting your student’s success and ensuring that the whole family can participate in a truly remarkable student life experience.
