Over 200 students every year fill leadership roles in their residence halls as part of the Residential Community Student Association, Hall Councils and other residential leadership organizations—contributing to their community, developing career skills and meeting new people.
Resident Advisers
Resident Advisers are student staff responsible for building safe, welcoming and inclusive residential communities, by developing meaningful relationships with residents and cultivating relationships between residents.
Residential Programmers
Residential Programmers plan educational, wellness, academic success, diversity-focused, and social events that build inclusive communities and promote connections among HFS residents.
RCSA
Residential Student Community Association (RCSA), provides an opportunity for you to join a group of leaders in your residential community and help make a difference where you live by engaging students.
Become a Student Leader
Apply to join the student leadership team as a Resident Adviser (RA) or Residential Programmer. The deadline is January 14, 2026, to apply. Explore the eligibility requirements and training process below.

STUDENTS EXPRESSING ENVIRONMENTAL DEDICATION
SEED is an environmentally-focused student organization dedicated to promoting sustainability in the UW’s residential communities. SEED students develop career transferable skills in project management, communication, activism and education.
UW DINING ADVISORY BOARD
Contribute to the performance of UW Dining by offering constructive praise and criticism from your community. Meet with UW Dining leadership, try out new promotions, meet other students, and learn about factors that go into large-scale operation decision making. Contact RCSA for more information.
BUDGET ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Develop skills in information synthesis, communication and organizational structures while providing informed budgetary feedback to HFS senior leadership.
PEER REVIEW BOARD
Members of the board develop critical thinking and decision-making skills while providing residents with a fair and just conduct system. Their efforts support healthy and safe communities by holding peers accountable for their actions.
