Building amenities and student spaces

Free high speed Wi-Fi: in all public areas of the residence halls. Most rooms have Wi-Fi in residential areas.

McMahon Hall has high-speed internet via ethernet connection that you can hook up to a personal Wi-Fi router. Bring a Wi-Fi router and ethernet cable 

Ethernet: is also available in every room, with a high-speed connection that enables residents to use UW computing resources and includes access to the Internet and email.

Frost Bite is a student-managed ice cream shop featuring $1.50 ice cream, located in Madrona Hall

Smoke- and vape-free: The Seattle campus is smoke- and vape-free, with the exception of designated smoking areas. All residence halls including outside areas are smoke- and vape-free.

Meeting rooms and study spaces

HFS facilities contain a number of meeting rooms. Residents may use the rooms casually for studying or group activities as long as there is not a prior reservation for the space.

Reserve a room: If you are in need of a space for a gathering and would like to make a reservation, HFS residents can reserve a meeting room at no charge.

The Learning Resource Center: in Madrona Hall has study rooms, lecture halls and offices for RCSA and HFS residential educational leadership.

Furniture and shared kitchens

Fully furnished: Residence halls are fully furnished. Room layouts with furniture configurations can be found on each building's web page.

Kitchens: Each building has a shared kitchen with a sink, stove, oven and microwave (except McMahon Hall).

Makerspace, music and video labs and gaming can be found in Area 01 in Maple Hall. A community-focused collaborative learning space.

Fitness Center West: located in Elm Hall, is a large facility open to HFS residential students only. FCW offers cardio equipment, free weights and strength equipment. Classes including yoga and circuit training are available in the two large fitness studios. Explore FCW classes.

Makerspace and engineering lab: The MILL in McCarty Hall is a hands-on workspace where the UW community comes together to imagine, discover, innovate and create.

McMahon Hall Fitness Room: located in the North Tower lobby level of McMahon Hall, the fitness room includes elliptical machines, treadmills and table tennis.

Maker, games and study space in The 8. A newly renovated area featuring a multi-use community center where students can create in the makerspace, hit the books in the study lounge, or play in the games area.
