Show off your decorating skills in our annual res hall photo contest!  

Your dorm room is your corner of campus. Whether your setup is maximalist, minimalist, plant-filled, art-covered, cozy or kinda chic, we want to see how you have made your space your own. 

Current UW students living in residence halls are invited to submit photos or videos of their decorated room and/or favorite room detail(s) by Friday, November 6. 

Show off your: 

• Cozy corner 

• Wall collage 

• Desk setup 

• Favorite art or décor 

• Elite organization system 

• Anything that makes your room feel like you 

Three winners will receive a University Book Store prize pack, including a $50 gift card.

How to Enter 

Take a photo or video of the res hall room in which you currently live. 

Upload your submission through the contest entry form, which will be published shortly. 

Keep an eye on your UW email for winner notifications. 

Deadline 

All entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026. 

Eligibility & Submission Requirements 

The contest is open to all current UW students who live in university HFS housing and submit original photos/videos taken by themselves. 

• Each student may submit up to a total of five (5) photos or videos of their room. 

• Photos/videos must be submitted through the official contest submission form. 

Submitted photos/videos must: 

• Be the entrant's original work. 

• Be taken by the person submitting the entry. 

• Be appropriate for a University of Washington audience. 

• Not contain offensive, discriminatory, hateful, threatening or otherwise inappropriate content. 

• Not violate another person's copyright, privacy or other rights. 

• Not contain content that promotes illegal activity. 

Basic editing, such as cropping, brightness or color adjustments, is allowed. Substantially altered or AI-generated images are not eligible. 

Prize 

Three (3) winners will receive: 

• A University Book Store prize pack including a $50 gift card 

• The chance to see your photos/videos featured on HFS social media channels 

Photo Use and Permissions

By submitting a photo/video, entrants grant UW Housing & Food Services permission to use the submitted photo/video for promotional and marketing purposes related to UW Housing & Food Services. 

This may include use on: 

• UW Housing & Food Services social media 

• UW Housing & Food Services websites 

• Digital displays 

• Marketing materials 

Entrants will be credited when reasonably possible. Submission does not guarantee that a photo/video will be published or used. 

Selection of Winners 

Eligible entries will be reviewed by UW Housing & Food Services Marketing & Communications team and Residential Community Student Association (RCSA) based on creativity and photo/video quality. 

Semifinalists will be announced on HFS social media channels on Tuesday, November 10, 2026. 

Winners will be contacted on Thursday, November 19, 2026 via the UW email address provided on the submission form.
