- Local Point, Husky Grind Café at Mercer Court and Area 01 are options on West Campus
- Take a study break at Frost Bite!
Finding the right study space can make a huge difference during a busy quarter. While libraries are a go-to for many students, some of the best study spots are tucked inside campus dining spaces and residence hall buildings. These locations combine comfortable seating, convenient hours, and easy access to food or coffee when you need a break.
If you’re looking for a new place to study, here are a few hidden gems around campus worth checking out.
Center Table
Located in North Campus, Center Table offers plenty of open seating that makes it easy to settle in for a study session between meals. Because it stays open until 11 p.m., it’s a great option for students who want to keep working into the evening while still having food nearby. The lively atmosphere makes it especially good for group study sessions or casual work with friends.
Local Point
The West Campus favorite is Local Point, which is also open until 11 p.m. With lots of seating and multiple dining options nearby, it’s a convenient place to review notes, work on assignments, or meet up for a quick study session after dinner. Its central location makes it a popular stop for students living in nearby residence halls.
Husky Grind Café, Mercer Court
For students who prefer a quieter cafe environment, Husky Grind Café at Mercer Court is a great option. Open until 11 p.m., it’s an ideal late-evening study spot on West Campus. Many students stop by for coffee and end up staying to get work done thanks to its relaxed atmosphere and smaller crowds.
Oak Hall, Denny Room
Tucked inside Oak Hall, the Denny Room is a lesser-known study space that offers a quieter environment than many public campus buildings. The room is often open late into the evening, making it a convenient spot for students on North Campus who want a peaceful place to focus without leaving their residential area. HFS has additional meeting and event spaces available for residents to reserve—find one in your res hall.
Area 01
Inside Maple Hall, Area 01 is one of campus's most unexpected study spots. Beyond its reputation as a creative makerspace, the open tables and collaborative layout make it a great place to work through problem sets, brainstorm projects, or get into a flow state surrounded by people actually building things. Whether you're deep in coursework or working on a side project, the energy here has a way of keeping you focused and motivated.
Learning Resource Center (Spratlen Hall)
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) in Spratlen Hall provides study rooms and shared spaces designed to support residential learning programs. It’s a useful option for students looking for a quieter environment for focused studying or small group work, especially during evenings when other campus spaces begin to fill up.
Study Break: Frost Bite
Located in Spratlen Hall, Frost Bite is a student-managed ice cream shop known for its $1.50 scoops. It’s the perfect place to grab a quick treat after a long study session or when you need a break between assignments.
Find your Hidden Gem
