Charge Information

After-hours Lockout Assistance


Charged if HFS assistance is required for room/apartment access outside of front desk hours.

Boxing and Storage $50 per box Charged if items are left in your room or public area, requiring HFS staff to collect and store.



Mandatory, one-time, refundable charge, due at the time of application.

Emergency Kit


Mandatory (only required once during your occupancy with HFS).

Ethernet Hub Replacement


Charged if a hub borrowed from your front desk is damaged, lost, or not returned when you vacate.

Failure to Check out by Deadline $40 Charged if you do not check out by the published deadline.
Failure to Comply with Inspection Procedures $25 Charged if you do not follow move-out procedures.
Failure to Return Keys to Designated Checkout Location $25 Charged if you do not return keys to proper location when checking out; lock change and key replacement charges may also apply.

You may also be charged for occupying two spaces, and for boxing and storage.

Key Replacement


Charged for replacement of a lost mailbox key, bathroom key, bike room key or temporary door access card.

Key Retrieval


Charged if facilities services staff are contracted to retrieve keys (or other items) from an elevator shaft.

Late Payment


Charged if payment is received more than 5 calendar days after it is due. Your dining card may also be turned off.



Charged per load. Cash not accepted; must use Husky Card Account.

Laundry Deposit


Charged quarterly. Automatically deducted from your housing and dining payment, and applied to your Husky Card Account. Fully refundable.

Lock Change


Charged for a lost or misplaced room, apartment or cluster key.

Replacement ID Card


Charged for replacing a lost or damaged Husky Card.

Returned Check (NSF) Charge $25 Charged if a check written to HFS is returned for insufficient funds.
Room Change


Charged for any voluntary room change.

Unauthorized Room Change


Charged for room changes made without authorization from HFS Desk Services or HFS Student Services.


HFS passes along all charges associated with damage caused by a student regardless of intent. The labor rates set by the University are valid from July 1 to June 30 each fiscal year and can be found here. Labor rates do not include materials. Rates vary based on the skilled trade required to complete the specific job. When considering replacement versus repair, the most economical option will be selected.
