Rights and Responsibilities

Educational Workshop

As part of your educational sanction(s), you have been asked to complete one of the following workshops:

  •  Alcohol Skills Training Workshop (ASTW)
  •  Community Living Workshop (CLW)
  •  Individual Alcohol Assessment
  •  Individual Marijuana Assessment
  •  Marijuana & Other Drugs (MOD)

Please note that if you need to reschedule your workshop, you must provide written notice to the Residential Life Conduct Office by emailing judicial@uw.edu at least three business days in advance of your scheduled workshop.

Failure to provide adequate notice or to attend your assigned session(s) will result in a fee for the cost associated with your missed workshop.

Alcohol Skills Training Workshop (ASTW)

You have been asked to complete the Alcohol Skills Training Workshop. Once you select a workshop series that best fits your academic schedule, you must create an account and complete the sign-up process. Please note that you must sign up and complete both sessions of your workshop series by the date listed on your Administrative Disposition.

Workshop details

  • Each Alcohol Skills Training Workshop (ASTW) series consists of two 90-minute sessions, one week apart. You will be asked to participate in group discussions with your peers and will receive relevant information to make your own informed decisions about alcohol use.
  • Instructors for the ASTW are the Alcohol and Drug Education Coordinators: Ange Vittone (avittt@uw.edu) and Frank Song (fs1@uw.edu) . Please feel free to contact them if you have any questions regarding the content of the workshop.
  • You must register for a session prior to attending. 

It is necessary that you attend both sessions in the correct sequence for which you are scheduled. Should you miss either session, you will have to start the series over again. If you need to reschedule, you must provide written notice to the Residential Life Conduct Office by emailing judicial@uw.edu at least three business days in advance of your scheduled workshop. Failure to provide adequate notice or to attend both assigned sessions will result in a $35 fee for the cost associated with your missed workshop.

Community Living Workshop (CLW)

You have been asked to participate in the Community Living Workshop (CLW). The CLW is a one-hour workshop designed to give you an opportunity to discuss community impact, as well as how your experiences may be applicable to your larger UW experience and future life outside of UW housing. You will be asked to participate in group discussions with your peers.

The location of the session will be listed online when you register. It will either be online via Zoom or in-person on the UW Seattle campus. Please arrive at least five minutes early, and do not be late. Failure to be on time for or attend your scheduled session may result in the assessment of a $35 fee. If you are more than 10 minutes late to your session, then you may be asked to re-register to complete a different session. 

If you need to reschedule, you must provide written notice to judicial@uw.edu at least three business days in advance of your scheduled workshop. Failure to provide adequate notice will result in a $35 fee for the cost associated with your missed workshop.

Individual Alcohol Assessment

You have been asked to complete an Individual Alcohol Assessment. Once you have selected the assessment time that best fits your academic schedule, you must create an account and complete the sign-up process. Please note that you must sign up and complete your assessments by the deadline given on your administrative disposition.

Workshop details

  • The assessment consists of two one-hour sessions that will focus on helping you make your own informed decisions regarding alcohol use. You will be provided with accurate information regarding alcohol and will receive personalized and confidential information pertaining to your own use.
  • Instructors for Individual Assessments are the Alcohol and Drug Education Coordinators: Ange Vittone (avittt@uw.edu) and Frank Song (fs1@uw.edu) . Please feel free to contact them if you have any questions regarding the content of the meeting.

It is necessary that you attend both sessions in the correct sequence for which you are scheduled. Should you miss either session, you will have to start the sequence over again. Individual assessments are conducted for both alcohol and marijuana. When registering on our website, please be sure to select an available Individual Alcohol and Marijuana Assessments from the list of workshops.

Register for the Individual Alcohol Assessment 

Individual Marijuana Assessment

You have been asked to complete an Individual Marijuana Assessment. Once you have selected the assessment time that best fits your academic schedule, you must create an account and complete the sign-up process. Please note that you must sign up and complete your assessments by the deadline given on your administrative disposition.

Workshop details

  • This workshop will take place over Zoom. Upon registration and prior to your session, you will receive a zoom link from your instructor. Please ensure that you have a working camera and microphone. If you foresee any technical issues that would prohibit you from participating, please reach out to judicial@uw.edu.
  • The assessment consists of two one-hour sessions that focus on providing you with accurate information regarding marijuana use, developing skills to make informed decisions, and reducing the risk of marijuana-related consequences.
  • Instructors for Individual Assessments are the Alcohol and Drug Education Coordinators: Ange Vittone (avittt@uw.edu) and Frank Song (fs1@uw.edu). Please feel free to contact them if you have any questions regarding the content of the meeting.

Marijuana and Other Drug (MOD) Workshop

You have been asked to complete the Marijuana and Other Drug (MOD) Workshop. Once you have selected the assessment time that best fits your academic schedule, you must create an account and complete the sign-up process. Please note that you must sign up and complete your assessments by the deadline given on your administrative disposition.

Workshop details

  • The workshop consists of either two 90-minute sessions or one 2-hour session. You will be asked to participate in group discussions with your peers and will receive relevant information to make your own informed decisions about substance use.
  • The instructor for the MOD Workshop is Jason Kilmer (jkilmer@uw.edu). Please feel free to contact him if you have any questions regarding the content of the meeting.

It is necessary that you attend both sessions in the correct sequence for which you are scheduled if you are registered for a two-part series. Should you miss either session, you will have to start the sequence over again. If you need to reschedule, you must provide written notice to the Residential Life Conduct Office by emailing judicial@uw.edu at least three business days in advance of your scheduled workshop. Failure to provide adequate notice or to attend both assigned sessions will result in a $35 fee for the cost associated with your missed workshop.
