The Engineering Living Learning Community (LLC) creates a space for like-minded individuals to develop their ideas, passions and work ethic. Engineering is one of the most challenging academic programs at the UW, and it is imperative for engineering students to have a supportive and motivating community around them.
Unlock your creativity and forge connections with peers that share similar educational interests as you dive into engaging workshops throughout the academic year, transforming ideas into reality together.
Maple Hall is on West Campus with Area 01 on the ground floor.
Area 01 is a community-focused learning space featuring a high- and low-tech makerspace called The Dabble Lab, as well as a variety of other spaces including the Sound Lab, Gamepods and the Content Creation Studio.
Resources include 3-D printers, a laser cutter, art and design tools, recording equipment, game consoles, pool tables, workshops and more.
Maple Hall is a short walking distance from the Engineering Buildings on the south-end of campus.
Maple Hall currently has 1 Resident Director (RD), 1 Associate Hall Director (AHD), and 16 Resident Advisers (RAs), including 12 RAs specifically for the ENGR LLC, available to students.
In partnership with the UW College of Engineering, LLC members engage with staff and residents who share an interest in engineering, participate in activities and events with UW College of Engineering staff and faculty, business leaders and alumni, and develop their leadership skills in their community. Check out examples of past events below.
Engineering Showdown: Building Bridges and Bonds Teams design and construct a bridge, competing for strength and creativity. Participants learn about basic bridge structures followed by a weight test to see which design could hold the most weight. Prizes are awarded to the winning team.
