Where do I apply?
Openings for student staff positions are posted on the student jobs portal.
When do applications open?
Positions are posted in February. Interviews occur in April, and offers are made by the end of April.
What types of student staff positions do you hire for?
Fitness Center West Attendants
Fitness Center West Instructors
- Trained/certified fitness instructors that lead a variety of classes
- Work between 1-6 hours/week
Student Coordinators
- Provide area-specific administrative and programming support in the following positions:
- Administrative Coordinator
- Marketing Coordinator
- Workshop Coordinator
- Programming Coordinator
- Work between 15-19.5 hours/week
Makers: Area 01, The 8 and The MILL
- Staff the reception desks
- Troubleshoot basic machine issues and projects (3D printers, laser cutters and vinyl cutters)
- Work between 6-19.5 hours/week
Maintenance & Area Technicians
- Provide instruction on more complicated machinery (including The 8’s Wood & Metal Shops) and lead workshops
- Repair broken or malfunctioning machines
What type of qualifications or experience are you looking for?
Experience is not required, but we are looking for staff with interest and aspirations in:
Do I need to have experience to be employed by Perks & Rec?
You do not need experience to be a student worker with Perks & Rec; however, some positions will require certification or advanced training after hire.
I have another student worker position (e.g., OA, RA, Hall Council Member). Can I still apply?
Yes, you are still eligible to apply to a student staff position with Perks & Rec.
How many positions are available?
Each year, we have about 10-20 openings for student worker positions. There are thousands of applicants for these positions, and we unfortunately cannot hire everyone. However, we are open to volunteers at our Frost Bite location where students can gain work experience in a low-stress environment!
